LISTEN TO THE INTERVIEW
When fashion magazines start writing about antibiotic resistance and UTIs, you know a health condition is getting serious. An alarming article in Vogue magazine detailing how eating chicken and eggs could be the cause of untreatable urinary-tract infections (UTIs) resulted in many raised eyebrows among an entirely new demographic of women. Other mainstream women’s magazines have followed suit this year, including Glamour and Shape, warning women against chicken and offering other strange reasons that may be the cause for their intolerable UTIs.
Health statistics estimate that nearly 50 percent of women will develop a UTI at some point in their lifetime. Women are not alone with this health problem; 12 percent of men will also experience at least one symptomatic UTI during their lifetime.
The Herbal Pharmacist, David Foreman says UTIs can turn into a bigger health problem if not addressed, including kidney infections or even death. David talks about what active steps the U.S. FDA is taking to reduce the occurrence of antibiotic resistance, which is a related issue to the UTI problem.
Foreman’s career began as a registered pharmacist with a strong belief in natural medicine. He uses his expertise in physiology, pharmacology and natural medicine to educate consumers on cutting edge approaches to natural health and healing.
